Photographs

Living room of our house in Phnom Penh. Garvan and I spend nearly every night watching Star Treck T.V. series.

Another angle of the room. Lee gave us a photo of Ferrari Formula one car on the shelf.

We spent a long holidays during the Cambodian King's Birthday in May taking our Toyota Corolla 2F-7890 to Stung Treng and Laos respectively. We arrived Stung Treng at 4.00 pm and rain and rain ...

May 14th in the morning at the border between Cambodia and Laos waiting for a permission paper to take the vehicle to Laos. Many Cambodians also traveled to Loas during the long holidays.

Atmosphere at the border waiting for permission to cross border. We needed a customs certificate to take our car into Lao, but nobody was working on Government holidays. Fortunately such difficulties are solvable in Cambodia.

Maew at the Cambodian border with Laos in the morning, still fresh!

Finally we got the permission paper after waiting nearly half day, and the first spot we visited is Khon Phra Pheng where the massive Mekong falls into Cambodia.

Must take picture to show to the world "I was there!"

See the power of massive waterfalls. The river is very wide, so we can only see the eastern most channel.

Garvan at Khon Phra Pheng with a small part of the Mekong in the background.

Another view of the falls.

Impressive power of the flow.

See the power of the current of Mekong.

Khon Phra Pheng.

Guest house in Don Khong, peaceful and beautiful. This is the largest of the "4,000" islands in the Mekong in the area above the falls.

Pakse City, further north from Don Khong. Mekong view from the restaurant on the raft.

Maew and the new symbol of Beer Lao, A tiger has replaced the Black Panther!

Sunset by the Mekong river, viewed from a restaurant on a raft in the Mekong.

Garvan is ready for an evening beer and fresh river prawns (the Mekong prawns are the size of a small lobster).

Once the rain stopped, we moved to the outdoors section of the raft.

Garvan and the new beer Laos' logo - A tiger!

Nice scenery and cold beer, what do you need in life more than this?

National Road No. 13 from the Cambodian/Lao border to Viengtien. Good tarmac road and not very busy.

Fog over the summit of the mountain range in Pakse, Laos

The mountain contain line of stone as seen in the photo.

Logging trucks are still seen in Laos, while in Cambodia logging is prohibited by the order of Prime Minister.

The road to Attapeu - one of the poorest and seriously effected by Unexploded Ordnance.

Landscape view from the hill on road to Attapeu, we can see Mekong river in the distance.

The junction on national road No. 13 to turn to Don Khong island.

Garvan inspecting the Mekong before the Khon Phra Pheng falls.

See the power of the falls - view from up steam of the falls.

View from the down steam of the falls.

See the beauty of different shape of the leaves of the weeds by the Mekong river bank in Laos.

How green it is by the Mekong in Khon Phra Pheng in year 2008!

Back to Cambodia on National Road no. 7 Stung Treng - Kratie - Kampong Cham - Phnom Penh. The round trip was exactly 1,000 miles.

Photo of 'Trang' plant, people use the leave to weave mats, make walls, and many more useful containers.

Marble, waiting for use when we got home. One of four or five feral cats that moved in when a neighbouring warehours was demolished.
